August Meeting

The August meeting of the Lane Country Dahlia Society will be held Thursday, August 1st at 7:30 PM at the Celeste Campbell Center, 155 High Street, Eugene. We are so excited that this month's speaker will be Wayne Lobaugh of Lobaugh's Dahlias in Washington State. Wayne is an expert dahlia grower, exhibitor, and hybridizer. His topic for our meeting will be "Hybridizing Open Centered Dahlias". Wayne has introduced many wonderful open centered dahlias such as RaeAnn's Peach and Apopa Beauty. His talk is sure to be a fascinating look into his methods for creating these wonderful new varieties. We will also have our regular dahlia "show-and-tell" and we encourage members and non-members alike to bring in blooms to share. As always, admission is free and there will be door prizes and refreshments served. We look forward to seeing you there!

July Meeting

The Lane County Dahlia Society will hold its July Meeting Thursday, July 11th at 7:30 PM at the Celeste Campbell Center, 155 High Street, Eugene. This month's program will feature August Jackson from the Mt. Pisgah Arboretum. He will present a vividly illustrated exploration of the diversity of Oregon's 500+ bee species. Getting to know our native bees is the first step in seeing them in our gardens and everywhere we go. You will learn to appreciate the vital role they play in our gardens and our local ecosystems. During the evening, we will have a raffle for three lovely dahlia themed tote bags, created by LCDS member Pat C. We also encourage all members and visitors to bring in dahlia blooms if you have some early performers in your garden. There will be door prizes and refreshments. As always admission is free and all are welcome. We hope to see you there!
