The Lane County Dahlia Society will hold its August meeting Thursday, August 3rd at 7:00 PM at the Celeste Campbell Center, 155 High Street, Eugene. The arrival of August heralds two things; a garden full of gorgeous dahlia blooms and the arrival of dahlia show season. The August program will be presented by LCDS members Eugene, Rosie, and Camille. This dynamic trio will guide us all through the ADS classification book, explain how it pertains to a dahlia show, and then demystify our own Dahlia Show book. If you have ever thought about entering a dahlia show, you won't want to miss this meeting! We will also have our regular feature "What's Happening in the Garden". This month, the segment will include organic fertilizers and pest management. We also encourage all members and guests to bring some blooms to show off and share at the meeting. July Meeting

The Lane County Dahlia Society will hold its July meeting on Thursday, July 12th at 7:30 PM at the Celeste Campbell Center, 155 High Street, Eugene. Come to your July meeting to learn all about pollinators in the garden and alternatives to use instead of toxic pesticides. The Northwest Center for Alternatives to Pesticides (NCAP) will give a presentation featuring pollinators in the garden and good bugs vs. bad bugs. Information and handouts will be provided, including lists of retailers and wholesales with Neonic-free plants, recipes for insecticidal soap, and safe-to-use weed killers After the program there will be time for a question and answer session. We also encourage all members to bring some early season dahlia blooms for our "show-and-tell" if your dahlias have begun to bloom. The meeting is free and open to the public. June Meeting

The June meeting of the Lane County Dahlia Society will be held Thursday, June 7th at 7:30 PM at the Celeste Campbell Center. Our presentation this month will be lead by veteran L.C.D.S. growers with a focus on caring for your newly planted dahlias.Topics will include watering, staking, fertilizing, pinching and dis-budding. Bring your questions! We will also have a last chance tuber sale. It will start at 7:00 PM and continue on during the refreshment break. All tubers will be just $1.We will also have a limited number of young dahlia plants for sale at $5 each, donated by Mark O. of the Portland Dahlia Society. There will be door prizes and free refreshments also available. The meeting is free and open to the public. We hope that you will join us!

May Meeting

The Lane County Dahlia Society will hold its May meeting Thursday, May 3rd at 7:30 PM at the Celeste Campbell Center, 155 High Street, Eugene. At this month's meeting a panel of experienced dahlia growers will be on hand to discuss preparation methods for planting a dahlia garden. They will offer advice on when, where, and how to plant your dahlia tubers and will gladly answer any questions. There will also be a tuber and dahlia plant sale that will begin at 7:15 PM.
