November Meeting

Our November dahlia meeting will be held Thursday, November 1st at 7:30 PM at the Celeste Campbell Center, 155 High Street, Eugene. The topic of this meeting will be the proper digging, dividing, and storage of dahlia tubers. Society members will be set up at many work stations, giving hands-on demonstrations of tuber dividing.There will also be demonstrations showcasing various successful storage methods. This is one of our most popular meetings of the year and we expect a large turnout. As always, the meeting is free and open to the public. There will also be free door prizes and refreshments. We hope to see you there!

October Meeting

The October meeting of the Lane County Dahlia Society will be held Thursday, October 4th at 7:30 PM at the Celeste Campbell Center, 155 High Street, Eugene. Please join us as we celebrate and share our favorite flower as the growing season nears its end. This month's program will feature our annual dahlia bloom "Show-and-Tell". We are encouraging all LCDS members and guests to bring dahlia blooms from their garden to share with the group. Ideas include cutting blooms of your old favorites, brand new varieties that you are loving, and sharing blooms that work well in the mixed flower bed. This will be a great opportunity to share a bit of this year's dahlia garden with the group and to also begin formulating ideas for next year's garden too. There will be free refreshments and door prizes. As always, the meeting is free and open to the public. We hope to see you there!

55th Annual Dahlia Show 

Where: Wheeler Pavilion, Lane County Fairgrounds, Eugene, OR

When: Saturday, September 15th, Noon - 6:00 PM

            Sunday, September 16th, 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM

Come help the Lane County Dahlia Society celebrate its 55th Annual Show. There will be hundreds of dahlia varieties on display, exhibited by dozens of growers from all over the Pacific Northwest. There will be an information booth staffed by LCDS members ready to answer all of your questions and free handouts too. Just outside the Wheeler Pavilion is a dahlia garden tended by LCDS members. Bring your camera and your questions and prepare to be amazed at the display. Admission is free! We will see you there!

September Meeting

The Lane County Dahlia Society will hold its September meeting on Thursday, September 6th at 7:30 PM at the Celeste Campbell Center, 155 High Street, Eugene. This month's meeting will focus on how to enter a dahlia bloom into a dahlia show. We will discuss how to improve bloom quality on your plants, how to safely transport blooms to the show, and demonstrate how to stage a 1-bloom and 3-bloom entry. We will also have a demonstration on how to float a dahlia bloom and will hear how to gather all of the materials that you will need. We will have the new Show Books to distribute and will give a quick talk on how to read the Show Book and understand it. Limited amounts of show cans will be for sale. We also encourage all members to bring some dahlia blooms for our "show-and-tell". The meeting is free and open to the public. Free refreshments and door prizes will be provided. August Meeting

The Lane County Dahlia Society will hold its August meeting on Thursday, August 2nd. at 7:30 PM at the Celeste Campbell Center, 155 High Street, Eugene. This month's program will feature a discussion on dahlia grooming, and how best to tend to your plants at this time of the year to produce plentiful, big, beautiful blooms. We will also have a demonstration on creating arrangements with dahlias for both the home and for a dahlia show. As we head toward the dahlia show season, show supplies including foam and containers will be available for purchase. And don't forget to bring in those dahlias blooms. We love to have our dahlia "show-and-tell" before the meeting and during the break. As always free door prizes and refreshments will be offered. The meeting is also free and open to the public. July Meeting

"Fancy Pants" OT LAV

The Lane County Dahlia Society will hold its July meeting on Thursday, July 12th at 7:30 PM at the Celeste Campbell Center, 155 High Street, Eugene. Come to your July meeting to learn all about pollinators in the garden and alternatives to use instead of toxic pesticides. The Northwest Center for Alternatives to Pesticides (NCAP) will give a presentation featuring pollinators in the garden and good bugs vs. bad bugs. Information and handouts will be provided, including lists of retailers and wholesales with Neonic-free plants, recipes for insecticidal soap, and safe-to-use weed killers After the program there will be time for a question and answer session. We also encourage all members to bring some early season dahlia blooms for our "show-and-tell" if your dahlias have begun to bloom. The meeting is free and open to the public. Free refreshments and door prizes will be provided. We look forward to seeing you there!

June Meeting

The June meeting of the Lane County Dahlia Society will be held Thursday, June 7th at 7:30 PM at the Celeste Campbell Center. Our presentation this month will be lead by veteran L.C.D.S. growers with a focus on caring for your newly planted dahlias.Topics will include watering, staking, fertilizing, pinching and dis-budding. Bring your questions! We will also have a last chance tuber sale. It will start at 7:00 PM and continue on during the refreshment break. All tubers will be just $1.We will also have a limited number of young dahlia plants for sale at $5 each, donated by Mark O. of the Portland Dahlia Society. There will be door prizes and free refreshments also available. The meeting is free and open to the public. We hope that you will join us!
